2024-25 FAFSA Information and Updates

The Department of Education has made significant changes to the FAFSA for the 2024-2025 academic year. Since this announcement, several updates have come in regarding timeline and what to expect. Defiance College Office of Financial Aid is continually monitoring these updates, and any new information will be posted to this page. 

If you have not filed your FAFSA, please click here to start the process. Be sure to include our school code (003041), so that your information is sent to us! Once Defiance College is able to access to your information, our Financial Aid team will work as quickly as possible to provide you with a financial aid package.

March 5, 2024 Update:

Federal Student Aid must complete StudentAid.gov site maintenance on Friday, March 8, 2024, from approximately 3 a.m. until noon Eastern time.

During the outage period, StudentAid.gov will be available, but users will be unable to create an account or log in. Users will be able to access StudentAid.gov site content, as well as any features that do not require log in, such as Loan Simulator. An alert will be posted on StudentAid.gov’s home page, log-in page, and form landing pages notifying users of the site maintenance.

We appreciate your patience as this necessary maintenance is completed.

 

January 30, 2024 Update:

The US Department of Education has announced that they will not be sending 2024-25 FAFSA results to any college or university in the United States until the first half of March. These delays are a result of a correction to a formula update within the new FAFSA process. For more details, please see the announcement from Federal Student Aid here.

If you have already submitted your FAFSA, but need to make a correction, you will not be able to do so until the original submitted FAFSA is processed in March. 

We understand that students and parents are anxiously awaiting financial aid award packages, and we appreciate your patience in this unusual situation. Our Defiance College Financial Aid team is committed to processing FAFSA applications as soon as they are released.
