FACULTY POSITIONS

 

Assistant or Associate Professor of Digital Forensic Science

Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Digital Forensic Science. Responsibilities include a 24-credit per year teaching load involving undergraduate courses in digital forensic science; academic advising; curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

The successful candidate must have a master’s or doctoral degree in information technology, digital forensics, computer engineering, cybersecurity, information assurance, or related field. Rank is Assistant or Associate Professor for a completed doctorate, Instructor for ABD and less than three years of college teaching experience, and Assistant Professor of Practice for a master’s degree and at least three years of professional experience. Preference will be given to candidates with significant digital forensics or cybersecurity work experience, teaching experience, and an industry certification.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Business


Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Business. We are at an exciting crossroads and searching for a dynamic and innovative individual to contribute to a redesigned undergraduate and graduate program in Business.

Responsibilities include a 24-credit per year teaching load involving undergraduate and graduate courses in business administration and management; academic advising; curriculum development; accreditation compliance; committee work; and service to the college.

The successful candidate must be ABD or have a completed doctorate in business (PhD or DBA) or related field. For the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, the candidate must have a completed doctorate; rank is Instructor for ABD and less than three years of college teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of contemporary issues in business environments, international experience, understanding of business start-up and turnaround, and ability to outreach with professionals in the field.

Assistant or Associate Professor and Director of Education


Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Education and Director of the Education Department. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher education; field supervision; academic advising; curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college. As Director of Education, responsibilities include accreditation compliance, admission and progress monitoring of students, developing course schedules, and managing budget.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) or be ABD in education, curriculum studies, or a related field. Experience with accreditation of teacher education programs is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with K-12 and higher education teaching experience and ability to teach courses in at least one of the licensure areas of early childhood education, middle childhood education, or adolescent and young adult education.

Teacher Education Field Supervisors

The Defiance College Education program is seeking practicum and clinical supervisors to supervise and observe teacher education students participating in field experiences. Areas of need include science, chemistry, social studies, mathematics, and language arts at the middle childhood and secondary levels and mild-to-moderate special education. This job requires site visits during normal school hours and may include attendance at on-campus meetings/training sessions which are typically held on Wednesday evening and/or Saturday.

Requirements include a master’s degree in education and teaching experience in a K-12 educational environment; current teaching licensure is preferred. Director of Career Development

Defiance College seeks a Director of Career Development. The individual will be responsible for the overall direction, leadership and strategic vision for the Career Development Office. Specific duties include assisting and counseling students in all facets of career development; cultivating and developing relationships with employers; and managing a four-year, developmentally-appropriate career and professional development program that supports a Personal Success Plan for every student.

Vice President of Academic Affairs

Defiance College, a small, liberal arts-based school located in northwest Ohio is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and energetic senior administrator to collaborate with and advise the President, faculty, staff, board, and students of the college on academic affairs and on other day-to-day operations relevant to the academic mission of the college. The Vice President of Academic Affairs will serve as the Chief Academic Officer and will lead a dedicated faculty/staff to promote an environment that encourages a culture of engagement and shared governance. The Vice President of Academic Affairs is responsible for academic matters such as curriculum development and assessment, faculty development, recruitment and support of faculty, and development of academic and related co-curricular initiatives/programs. The successful candidate is expected to have an earned doctorate or a terminal degree; academic administrative or other relevant experience; and an ability to work as a creative partner with the College community to move Defiance College to new heights of academic excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a distinguished teaching/scholarly background; demonstrate a commitment to involvement in service to the college, community, and the profession; and exhibit excellent leadership qualities. In addition, the applicant should be able to articulate a clear academic vision for the future of a small liberal arts-based college and demonstrate commitment to the blending of curricular/co-curricular experiences that lead to student success. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing in environments with limited resources, an ability to encourage and facilitate innovative ideas and approaches to serving both traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students in face-to-face and online learning environments, and the ability to facilitate dynamic cultural immersion and service-learning initiatives.

Defiance College founded in 1850 is a private, co-educational college located in the northwest corner of Ohio. The city of Defiance has 17,000 residents and is located a few hours from the following major cities: Detroit, MI; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Indianapolis, IN; and Chicago, IL. The campus is located in a residential area of Defiance and serves a student population of approximately 1,000 students with approximately 40 major areas of study leading to bachelor’s degrees as well as master’s programs in education and business.
