Assistant Professor of Biology 
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology. We are looking for a passionate and committed teacher-scholar that can easily move between introductory and upper-level biology courses. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focused on a variety of courses that include Principles of Biology, Ecology, and upper-division courses in field biology per the applicant’s area of expertise. The position duties also include academic advising; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a closely-related field; ABD will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong teaching record that incorporates strong pedagogical strategies, a demonstrated commitment to sustaining a research program focused on undergraduates, and good interpersonal skills with an emphasis on the importance of collaboration.

Visiting Scholar in Religious Studies
The Charles K. and Esther C. Krieger Visiting Scholars Program at Defiance College invites applications for a Visiting Scholar in Religious Studies for Fall 2023 through Spring 2025. The Visiting Scholar will teach three courses per semester (9 credit hours) in religious studies, including courses in the scholar’s area of interest, and the first-year seminar World Issues. The Visiting Scholar will coordinate programming on interfaith dialogue, understanding, and justice, and engage in research benefiting students and society. The Visiting Scholar will submit an annual report of activities to the Krieger foundation. The position duties also include academic advising; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

The position provides an annual stipend of $44,000, housing (3 bedroom) and board, plus eligibility for health benefits. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Religion or Religious Studies or other relevant field with specialization in one of the Abrahamic traditions of Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. An advanced ABD candidate will also be considered.

Assistant Professor of Digital Media
Defiance College invites applications for a full time, tenure track position in the Department of Communication Studies specializing in digital media production in the following areas: video production, social media, media writing, and video editing. Experience with commercial production or podcasting is welcome. This program is intended to teach students to use technology to communicate through various media.

Preferred candidates will have a terminal degree or advanced ABD status in media and communication or a related field. Candidates with a master’s degree will be considered only with significant professional experience in digital media production. Assistant Professor of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Defiance College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology. Ideal candidates will have a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate research. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester and the position duties include academic advising; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

Applicants from all subfields are welcome to apply, however, top consideration will be given to candidates who have completed a PhD program in cognitive, clinical/counseling, or experimental psychology; ABD will be considered. Assistant Professor of Physics 
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics. Responsibilities include a 12credit per semester teaching load in introductory level courses in Physics (Calculus and non-Calculus based) and in the applicant’s area of expertise for General Science and Engineering Students. The position duties also include academic advising; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

Applicants must have a Doctorate in Physics or a related field; advanced ABD will be considered. Applicants with experience teaching college physics are desirable. The successful candidate must be a committed educator with previous teaching experience in higher education with evidence of effectiveness in teaching; the desire to develop an undergraduate research program; and the ability to be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Experience and commitment to excellence in mentoring undergraduates in engineering programs will be valued. Familiarity with new technology and a willingness to incorporate technology into the classroom and laboratory are strongly desired. The successful candidate must also be open to incorporating diverse teaching strategies into the classroom that will enhance student success.

The successful candidate must have a completed MBA. For consideration on the tenure track, a doctorate in a field pertinent to Business is required and ABD candidates considered. Computer Science Faculty
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty member who is interested in an exciting opportunity to help maintain the Computer Science program and work closely with the Cyber-Forensic and Computer Science programs. Responsibilities for this position include a 12-credit per semester teaching load; academic advising; committee work; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development, and service to the college and the wider community. Courses taught can include those within the area of Computer Science, Cyber Security and/or Cyber Forensics.  The selected candidate will be teamed with experienced Cyber-Forensic, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity faculty and the position will involve significant teamwork and collaboration with faculty in the partner programs. Successful candidates should be versatile, adaptable and prepared to learn while teaching.

Preferred candidates will have a terminal degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Cyber-Forensics, or related field or ABD status. Those with a master’s degree will be considered for a non-tenure track renewable contract full-time position at the rank of assistant professor. Assistant Professor of Sport Management
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track professor of Sport Management. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load of undergraduate courses on campus and potentially graduate courses on-line. Areas of expertise sought to help students learn include: Sport Sociology, Event & Facility Management in Sport, Sport Leadership, Sport Fundraising, and other areas to help propel students successfully into the sport industry. Sport Management is among the largest majors on campus and students leave Defiance College with experiential knowledge that readies them for the sport industry. Assistant Professor of Teacher Education
Defiance College’s Teacher Education Program is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Special Education at the rank of Assistant Professor. At Defiance College, faculty members will engage in a private, liberal arts environment with an emphasis on teaching, advising, and service. Responsibilities include a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.  Within the Teacher Education Program, additional responsibilities include supervision of candidates in practicum and student teaching experiences and supporting the growth of teacher education programming. The position duties also include academic advising; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

An earned doctorate is required; advanced ABD will be considered. Ideal candidates will have three or more years of P-12 teaching experience and college level instruction, good interpersonal skills with an emphasis on the importance of collaboration, and a philosophy that aligns with the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to teach diverse undergraduate and graduate course offerings both online and face-to-face.

Assistant Professor of Exercise Science 
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (ESCI). Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focused upon a variety of courses that may include Introduction to Allied Health, Fitness and Wellness Programming, Pharmacology, and Sport and Fitness Nutrition, along with the supervision of ESCI internships and field experiences. The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in a field pertinent to Exercise Science; ABD will be considered.  Professional certification through ACSM and/or NSCA and work experience in an allied health setting is also desired. Assistant Professor of English 
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. We are looking for a passionate and innovative teacher-scholar who can move easily from first-year writing to upper-level literature courses. Our new colleague will contribute to the creative and intellectual life of the college community. In addition, the person hired for this position will advise the student newspaper, which comes with a three-credit per year course release. The typical teaching load is 12 credits per semester, usually a combination of general education composition courses and literature offerings. The position duties also include academic advising; assisting with program leadership and curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.

Instructor of Music and Assistant Director of Music Programs
Defiance College is seeking an energetic and creative music professional to serve in the full-time 10-month position of Music Instructor and Assistant Director of Music Programs. Reporting to the VPAA and Director of Music Programs through Student Affairs, this is a half time faculty position with administrative staff duties. The Instructor will teach six credits each term of courses and lead the DC College Choir, including two performances each year. Additionally, as the Assistant Director the individual will have direct responsibility for recruiting students to Defiance College to join the choir or ensembles, and managing the sheet music inventory.  

Defiance College currently serves just over 500 students; approximately 40 of which are actively involved in Music Programs through vocal and instrumental ensembles and private lessons, and approximately 6 students participate in our music minor. Performance ensembles are open to everyone regardless of major or sport, and music classes are open to all students.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a background in Music Education or Performance and additional training or work experience in Arts Administration. The individual must be capable of leading, rehearsing, and conducting individuals and musical ensembles for public performances, be able to travel on occasion, and be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule, which will include some evenings and some weekends.

This full-time 10-month appointment, which runs from August through May and includes summer orientation attendance/participation, will have a start date of January 3, 2023. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH 
Defiance College seeks an Assistant Volleyball Coach. Under the direction of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include coaching, recruiting, fund raising, strength & conditioning, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes, practice planning and preparation, travel arrangements, assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and evaluation, academic monitoring, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the mission of Defiance College, as well as adherence to institutional, Heartland Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures. A bachelor’s degree, previous coaching experience, and a valid driver’s license are required; master’s preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with previous collegiate coaching experience who can demonstrate strong communication skills and successful Division III recruiting experience.

Office Coordinator - Institute for Career Readiness and McMaster School
Defiance College has an immediate opening for an Office Coordinator to provide technical, clerical and administrative support to the Institute for Career Readiness and Lifelong Learning and the McMaster School for Advancing Humanity. Reporting to the Dean, the individual will be the first line of contact and response to departmental inquiries. Responsibilities include managing social media and creating promotional and marketing materials for the Institute, coordinating mailings, scheduling travel and securing visas and other requirements for international and domestic travel, coordinating and assisting with various programs and activities, maintaining thorough and accurate records and databases, and other administrative and office duties.

The successful candidate must be able to relate well with people from various cultural backgrounds, work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals using tact and diplomacy, and be a detail-oriented self-starter.  Proficiency in MSOffice, confidentiality and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines are critical to the position. ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER
Defiance College seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Defiance College is affiliated with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and sponsors 20 intercollegiate athletic teams. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in athletic health care management and medical coverage for NCAA sponsored intercollegiate athletic teams and events at Defiance College. The individual will be assigned specific coverage for two intercollegiate teams but will cover other sports and events as needed.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: coverage of practices, games, and events and traveling with teams to provide coverage at off-campus contests; assisting in daily ATR operations, including injury evaluation, emergency treatment, and rehabilitation; recordkeeping and documentation; work with local medical providers and team physicians to coordinate referrals for injuries; and providing counseling and education to student athletes.

Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (master’s preferred), have current NATA BOC certification, be licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio OT/PT/AT, and have previous athletic training experience, preferably in a higher education environment.

Financial Literacy Educator/Career Coach 
Defiance College invites applications for a Financial Literacy Educator/Career Coach. Reporting to the Dean of the Institute for Career Readiness and Lifelong Learning, the individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to improve the financial literacy of all students and support general career-readiness programming. Responsibilities will include: developing a series of financial literacy education and presenting workshops and events; assisting first-generation families in filing the FAFSA, coordinating follow up and support for all entrance and exit financial aid counseling; reviewing financial aid packages with students and families; and other relevant duties.

A bachelor’s degree is required. Prior experience in higher education and financial aid or financial literacy is desirable. Applicants must be proficient in MS Office, have excellent communication and organizational skills; be attentive to detail and able to maintain accurate records.

This full-time, 12-month position is being funded via a grant into 2025. Administrative Assistant, Academic Affairs 
Defiance College seeks a part-time Administrative Assistant for the Office of Academic Affairs to provide secretarial and administrative support for faculty and externally-accredited academic programs.

This 9-month position (mid-August through mid-May) will require approximately 20 hours of work per week. Responsibilities include preparing and managing correspondence and reports, implementing and maintaining office systems and databases, organizing and maintaining records for accreditation, taking meeting minutes, providing organizational and logistical support for events and activities, and other support duties as assigned. The individual must be able to maintain thorough and accurate records; work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals; and possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MSOffice and the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask critical to the position. High school diploma required; Associate degree and office experience are preferred.

Admissions Counselor 
Defiance College invites enthusiastic applicants for the position of Admissions Counselor to recruit, advise, and counsel prospective students.  Counselors work with immediate high school graduates, international students, veterans, graduate students and those returning to earn a degree. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the admissions counselor meets with prospective students and families, travels as a representative of the College at various college fairs and high schools, and articulates the value of a Defiance College and a liberal arts education. Desirable traits in a counselor include attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and knowledge of technology. Administrative Assistant, Education and Business 
Defiance College seeks an Administrative Assistant for the Education and Business programs.  The individual will provide administrative and project support for the program directors and externally-accredited academic programs.

Responsibilities of this full-time, 12-month position include preparing and managing correspondence and reports, implementing and maintaining office systems and databases, organizing and maintaining records for accreditation, taking meeting minutes, providing organizational and logistical support for events and activities, and other support duties as assigned. The individual must be able to use technology efficiently, be proficient in MSOffice, and maintain thorough and accurate records. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills along with the ability to interact and work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals are essential.  A high school diploma is required; bachelor’s degree preferred and office administrative experience is desirable.

Case Manager and Counseling Center Staff Clinician
Defiance College seeks a licensed or license-eligible (Ohio) Case Manager/Staff Clinician to be responsible for providing linking and follow up services to students who are identified as students of concern or who need help identifying necessary campus or community resources. The individual will also assist with the management of COVID-19 to include testing and contact tracing. This individual will also serve as a clinician in the Counseling Center and will provide individual and group counseling, assist with crisis response (which may require evening and weekend response), conduct mental health and wellness outreach programs, and provide training and consultation on college student mental health.

This is a full-time 10-month (August through May) administrative appointment with an immediate start date. The position is grant funded and continued employment will be contingent on performance and grant funding.  

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in counseling or a related field and have valid Ohio counselor, social work, or psychologist licensure or 5 years of licensure in another state (must become licensed in Ohio within six months of appointment). Prior experience working with college students is preferred.
