ASSISTANT PROFESSOR BIOLOGY
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a qualified candidate to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Biology to commence Fall 2021.
Teaching responsibilities include introductory level courses in Biology and in the applicant's area of expertise. Candidates that have experience teaching field ecology, botany, and zoology are desirable. The successful candidate must be a committed educator with previous teaching experience in higher education with evidence of effectiveness at the introductory level; the desire to develop an undergraduate research program; and the ability to be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Familiarity with new technology and a willingness to incorporate technology into the classroom and laboratory are strongly desired. The successful candidate must also be open to incorporating diverse teaching strategies into the classroom that will enhance student success. Ph.D. required but advanced ABD will be considered.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load that focuses on a variety of courses that include introductory and advanced courses. The successful candidate will be the lead professor for the accounting major. Supervision of internships is expected. Defiance College is accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education.
The successful candidate must have completed a master's degree in either accounting or business. Doctorate in accounting or business preferred. A CPA licensure is required. ABD will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong teaching record, innovative ideas for course development and pedagogy, and a willingness to help students apply their work both inside and outside the classroom in creative ways. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF EXERCISE SCIENCE
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (ESCI) with an anticipated Fall 2021 start date. Responsibilities include a 24-credit per year teaching load focused upon a variety of courses that may include Introduction to Allied Health, Fitness and Wellness Programming, Pharmacology, and Sport and Fitness Nutrition, along with the supervision of ESCI internships and field experiences. This faculty member may also provide instructional support in the program area of sport management. The position duties also include academic advising, assisting with program leadership and curriculum development, committee work, and service to the College.
The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in a field pertinent to exercise science; ABD will be considered but faculty rank would be at the Instructor level. Professional certification through ACSM and/or NSCA and work experience in an allied health setting is also desired. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong teaching record, innovative ideas for course development and pedagogy, and a willingness to help students apply their work both inside and outside the classroom in creative ways.

VISITING SCHOLAR IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES
The Charles K. and Esther C. Krieger Visiting Scholars Program at Defiance College invites applications for a visiting scholar in religious studies for spring 2021 through spring 2023 with a January 2021 start. The visiting scholar will teach three courses per semester in religious studies, including courses in the scholar's area of interest, and the first year seminar "World Issues." The visiting scholar will also coordinate a series on interfaith dialogue and understanding, and engage in research benefiting students and society. The visiting scholar also submits an annual report of activities due to the foundation.
The position provides an annual stipend of $44,000 with room and board, plus health
benefits. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in religion or religious studies
or other relevant field with an emphasis in the Abrahamic traditions of Christianity
or Islam. An advanced ABD candidate will also be considered. The first Krieger scholar
was an expert in Judaism, and it is the wishes of the foundation that this position
rotate over time to fulfill the vision of interfaith dialogue and understanding.

PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS
Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. Applicants must hold a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in relevant field and professional or teaching experience desirable.
INSTRUCTORS FOR APPLIED MUSIC LESSONS
Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:
Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone
Brass: trumpet, french horn, baritone, trombone, tuba
Strings: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar
Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors
will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music
Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels,
as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must
hold a master's degree in music education, music performance, or other related field.

TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.
Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, STUDENT LIFE
An immediate opening exists for an Administrative Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support to the Vice President and other staff within the Office of Student Life. Responsibilities include keeping updated information pertaining to various student records; database management and paperwork processing for student residency, meal plans, disciplinary reports, etc.; scheduling meetings, coordinating travel itineraries; supporting the student life staff during campus crises; serving as campus administrator for various software platforms such as Cadence texting platform, Get Inclusive online training platform, DocuSign and the Emergency Notification System; and other support tasks involved in the administrative operation of the office.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative and office procedures is essential. Must be proficient in database management and MS Office and comfortable learning new software applications; possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; and be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals using tact and diplomacy. The individual must be a self-starter who is detail oriented and can perform well under high pressure. The ability to keep confidential matters confidential is imperative. Associate's degree preferred; relevant college coursework and/or secretarial certification beyond HS diploma and significant work experience will be considered.

FINANCIAL LITERACY EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Defiance College invites applications for a Financial Literacy Education Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to improve the financial literacy of all students. Responsibilities will include: developing a series of financial literacy education and present workshops and events, assisting first-generation families in filing the FAFSA, coordinating follow up and support for all entrance and exit financial aid counseling, reviewing financial aid packages with students and families, and other relevant duties.
An associate's degree is required; bachelor's preferred. Prior experience in higher education and financial aid or financial literacy is desirable. Applicants must be proficient in MS Office, have excellent communication and organizational skills, be attentive to detail, and able to maintain accurate records.
This full-time, 12-month position is being funded through a 5-year grant. Continued employment for the successful candidate will be contingent on performance and continued funding.
