PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

INSTRUCTORS FOR APPLIED MUSIC LESSONS
Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:
Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone
Brass: trumpet, french horn, baritone, trombone, tuba
Strings: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar
Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors
will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music

Defiance College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach general communication courses and general media production courses. In the production course, students study the tools used to create digital media and practice skills important to production including high-definition photography, high-definition video shooting/editing, audio recording/editing, and linear and non-linear storytelling. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.
Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. An immediate opening exists for a Registrar to direct and fulfill the activities of the Registrar’s Office. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the Registrar records and maintains the accuracy and integrity of student academic information and provides a variety of support and services related to student records and registration. This position participates in academic decision making in matters including academic standards, management of student records and policy assessment. Responsibilities include maintaining historical data for internal and external analysis and reporting, scheduling and registration, graduation eligibility, degree audits, FERPA compliance, suspension/probation evaluations, transcripts, grade processing, transfer evaluations, classroom scheduling, and compiling course schedules.
This full-time administrative position requires a Master’s degree in any field. Experience in higher education with advising and registration required. Other experiences with admissions, faculty governance, and athletics preferred. The individual must be detail oriented and organized; have excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills; and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. COVID-19 CAMPUS SUPPORT COORDINATOR
The Defiance College community has seen a significant decrease in COVID-19 cases this academic year but continues its response and prevention activities which are coordinated through the College’s Incident Command Team. We are currently seeking an individual to provide support for all facets of our response and provide administrative support to the Incident Command Team.
The COVID-19 Campus Support Coordinator will coordinate COVID-19 testing for students
who are not fully vaccinated, assist the Wellness Center with the collection and processing
of tests, conduct contract tracing for individuals who have tested positive, and maintain
spreadsheets and records. Other COVID‑19 support activities will include notifying
students of their need to isolate or quarantine and providing them with guidelines,
coordinating the move of residential students to isolation, sending faculty notification
letters, coordinating meals, and ensuring students in isolation have needed supplies
This is a full-time, temporary position which is expected to conclude at the end of the Spring 2022 semester. The selected individual must be able to flex their work hours when necessary to ensure prompt response if positive COVID-19 individuals are identified late in the day or on a weekend. Defiance College invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor to recruit, advise, and counsel prospective students. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the admissions counselor will meet with prospective students and families, travel to represent the College at various college fairs and high schools, and articulate the value of a liberal arts education. DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID
Defiance College has an immediate opening for a Director of Financial Aid to direct all aspects of the financial aid office. The Director is an integral part of the Enrollment Management team. Responsibilities include ensuring that all financial aid processes are administered in compliance with state, federal, and private fund regulations; administration of all student financial aid assistance programs; processing of required reports; supervision; and student advising and counseling.
Must hold a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred). The ideal candidate will have five to ten years of progressively responsible experience in higher education financial aid. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MUSIC PROGRAMS
Defiance College has an immediate opening for an energetic and creative music professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Music Programs. Reporting to the Director of Music Programs through Student Affairs, this is an administrative staff position (not faculty) which will require some teaching. The Assistant Director will have direct responsibility for conducting, leading, and delivering instrumental music performance experiences for students, be heavily involved in new student recruitment; and will be responsible for building ensembles. Defiance College offers a music minor so the Assistant Director will also teach at least three-credit hours of content-based music courses per academic year, as well as private instrumental lessons when necessary. Other duties include the management of sheet music inventory and assisting with the inventory control of instrumental music equipment.
Defiance College currently serves just over 500 students; approximately 20 of whom are actively involved in Music Programs through vocal and instrumental ensembles and private lessons, and approximately 5 students participate in our music minor. Performance ensembles are open to everyone regardless of major or sport, and music classes are open to all students.
The successful candidate for this full-time, 10-month administrative staff appointment (August 1 to May 31) must have a Master’s degree with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a background in Music Education or Performance and additional training or work experience in Arts Administration. The individual must be capable of leading, rehearsing, and conducting individuals and musical ensembles for public performances, be able to travel on occasion, and be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule, which will include some evenings and some weekends.
