Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics

Teacher Education Field Supervisors


The Defiance College Education program is seeking practicum and clinical supervisors to supervise and observe teacher education students participating in field experiences. Areas of need include science, social studies, mathematics, and language arts at the middle childhood and secondary levels and mild-to-moderate special education. This job requires site visits during normal school hours and may include attendance at some Wednesday evening meetings.

Requirements include a master’s degree in education and teaching experience in a K-12 educational environment; current teaching licensure is preferred. Administrative Assistant, Academic Division

The Division of Natural Science, Applied Science, and Mathematics is primarily responsible for the undergraduate majors in the sciences, mathematics, criminal justice, psychology, digital forensic science, nursing, and athletic training. Primary responsibilities of this full-time, 9-month position include preparing and managing correspondence and reports, implementing and maintaining office systems and databases, organizing and maintaining records for accreditation, and providing organizational and logistical support for events and activities.

High school diploma and knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. Associate degree and office experience are preferred. Assistant Director of Marketing


Put your creative, communication, and writing skills to work! Defiance College seeks an Assistant Director of Marketing to provide a vast array of marketing functions in support of a comprehensive college-wide marketing plan. Responsibilities include creative and news writing and editorial support; production support for a vast array of marketing materials; assisting with the creation and content management of the College’s web and social media sites; and performing a variety of operational support activities.   Bachelor degree in communications, marketing, or related field required; 2-3 years’ work experience with writing, proofreading, and editing is preferred. Superb writing skills, creative thinking skills, and in-depth knowledge of various computer programs, systems, and web tools is required; experience using social media in a professional setting is desirable. Sports Information Director


Defiance College, an NCAA D-III member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, seeks qualified applicants for a Sports Information Director. This full-time, 12-month administrative position will report to the Athletic Director. The SID is responsible for creating and executing strategies to increase the visibility of student-athletes, coaches, and all 22 athletic programs. Responsibilities include: coordination of media/public relation efforts; assisting with the webcast of home football and basketball games; maintenance of the athletics website; creating and developing press releases, game notes for media, media guides, game programs, sports schedules, and other athletic department printed material; gathering, maintaining, and posting NCAA required statistics; game management duties specific to the SID such as staffing for all home events; managing the online photo store; supervise and mentor sports information graduate assistants; and other duties associated with being the SID.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in journalism, communication, public relations, sport management or a related field. Candidates must have excellent written (in AP style) and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in an intercollegiate sports information department. Candidates should have working knowledge of athletic statistics (prefer prior use of StatCrew software), Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and have basic HTML coding experience. Candidates should have the ability to create and edit highlight videos as well as have experience with social media. Athletic Director

Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution located in Northwest Ohio and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, seeks qualified applicants for the position of Athletic Director. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Engagement, the Athletic Director is responsible for the overall management of a comprehensive intercollegiate athletics program designed to foster the growth and development of individual student-athletes competing in 22 intercollegiate sports. The Athletic Director serves as the chief athletic officer and is accountable for the overall operation of the athletic department to include planning, organization, administration, supervision, fundraising, and evaluating all aspects of the College's NCAA Division III athletic program to ensure compliance with conference and NCAA regulations.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and/or abilities in the following areas: written and oral communication, leadership and supervision, budgeting, creative approaches and problem solving, recruitment, and NCAA compliance. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is required, as is a minimum of five (5) or more years of relevant experience in a collegiate athletic department.

Defiance College seeks qualified applicants for an individual to serve as a graduate assistant to the women’s lacrosse program. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of college coaching, recruiting, practice planning and implementation, player development and evaluation, scouting/film analysis, team strategy, fund-raising, and day-to-day program administration. Some off-season game management will also be included.

Graduate Assistant – Media Production


Defiance College is seeking individuals to serve as a Media Production Graduate Assistant in the Office of Public Relations and Marketing. The Graduate Assistant will work with the Creative Design Manager and will be responsible for supporting and assisting with the creation and editing of various marketing and promotional media material. The individual will supervise Defiance College students as they create, record, and edit various material and will also aid in managing the studio space and its subsequent use. Additionally, the individual will create, record, and edit their own individual projects that will contribute to the promotion and marketing of Defiance College.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts or a related discipline and have proficiency in MS Office programs and basic non-linear video editing. The position will require the individual to possess a valid driver’s license and be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule requiring evening and weekend work.
