FACULTY POSITIONS

Assistant Professor of Psychology
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load, student advising, committee work, and continuing professional development. Applicants should be committed to mentoring undergraduate research and have a plan for including undergraduates in their research initiatives.

The successful candidate should have completed a PhD program in Clinical, Cognitive, or Counseling Psychology; ABD will be considered. Candidates must be willing to teach across subfields in a variety of courses, such as Introductory Psychology, Memory and Cognition, Research Methods, Neuroscience, Abnormal Psychology, Clinical/Counseling Psychology, History and Systems, Personality Theories and selected topics courses in their area of expertise.

Assistant Professor of Digital Media
Defiance College invites applications for a tenure track position in the Department of Communication Arts specializing in digital media production in the following areas:  video production, social media, media writing, video editing. Experience with commercial production or podcasting welcome. This program is intended to teach students to use technology to communicate through various media. The teaching load is 4-4 each term.  The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. or MFA; advanced ABD’s will be considered.

Assistant Professor of Sport Management
Defiance College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track professor to teach Sport Management undergraduate courses on campus and potentially graduate courses on-line. Areas of expertise sought to help students learn include: Sport Sociology, Event & Facility Management in Sport, Sport Leadership, Sport Fundraising, and other areas to help propel students successfully into the sport industry. Sport Management is among the largest majors on campus and students leave Defiance College with experiential knowledge that readies them for the sport industry. Faculty teach a 4-4 load each year. 

A Ph.D. in Sport Administration or a related field is required; advanced ABD’s will be considered. Applicants must be willing to participate in administrative duties, including work on campus committees, with sport management student and alumni clubs, student advising, and other duties as assigned.

Instructor of Accounting
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time Instructor of Accounting. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load that focuses on a variety of courses that include introductory and advanced courses. Supervision of internships is expected. Defiance College is accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education.

Candidates must have a master’s degree in Accounting or Business; CPA licensure is required.  Candidates with a master’s degree will be considered only with significant professional experience in accounting. Preference will be given to candidates with significant practical real-world experience with accounting and business coupled with higher education teaching experience.

Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time faculty member in cybersecurity.  This major will complement and expand the existing Cyber-Forensic and Computer Science programs. Responsibilities for this position include a 24-credit per year teaching load; academic advising; committee work; and service to the college and the wider community.  A successful candidate will bring experience in the field of cybersecurity and a collaborative spirit as the position involves significant teamwork in the partner programs. 

Preferred candidates will have a terminal degree or advanced ABD status in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Cyber-Forensics, or related field.  Candidates with a master’s degree will be considered only with significant professional experience in cybersecurity. Rank and tenure track consideration is commensurate with education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with significant practical real-world experience with cybersecurity, information assurance, and incident response, coupled with higher education teaching experience.

Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Defiance College is currently seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Mathematics. Candidates who are able to develop working relationships with diverse students and have a record of effective teaching will be given priority. Experience incorporating technology in the learning experience is preferred. A teaching load of 12 hours per semester will include a variety of applied courses, calculus and an introductory course. The successful candidate will provide advising for students interested in pursuing an engineering degree.

Candidates should have a terminal degree in Mathematics, preferably in an area of or experience in Applied Mathematics.

PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS
Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. INSTRUCTORS FOR APPLIED MUSIC LESSONS
Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Strings: violin, viola
Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels, primarily beginners, as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must hold a master's degree in music education, music performance, or other related field. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. HEAD MEN'S SOCCER COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, seeks qualified applicants to serve as Head Men’s Soccer Coach. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the individual will be responsible for the total operation of the men’s soccer program. Soccer duties include recruiting, game preparation, practice organization, scheduling, fund-raising, budget preparation and management, student-athlete mentoring, development of a service learning/engagement project for student-athletes, evaluation and supervision of graduate assistant or assistant coach, and other duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate program. Additional expectations of this position include knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC, and institutional rules and regulations, game administration duties, and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement. 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) and a valid driver’s license. Applicants should possess a strong soccer coaching background with demonstrated success as an energetic recruiter and positive role model for student athletes. Preference will be given to candidates to possess USC/USS coaching licensure and have previous collegiate soccer coaching, playing and recruiting experience.

HEAD MEN’S WRESTLING COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, invites applications for the position of Head Men’s Wrestling Coach. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate wrestling program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned. Additional expectations of this position may include game administration duties, and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement. 

Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of wrestling, proven success in coaching wrestling at the collegiate or high school level, the ability to recruit, develop and motivate Division III student-athletes, and a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes. The successful candidate must also have knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong leadership skills. Candidates must be able to develop and motivate Division III student-athletes; have a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes; knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC, and institutional rules and regulations; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and strong leadership skills.

Defiance College seeks an Assistant Football Coach to assist primarily on the defensive side. The individual will assist the head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and development and will support the planning and directing of all functions of the football program. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to strength & conditioning, overall student-athlete instruction, coaching, recruiting and on-campus visit planning, game and practice planning, budget management, fundraising and student-athlete performance. Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
Defiance College seeks an individual to serve as assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs. The individual will provide organization and leadership for all phases of these programs and responsibilities will include recruiting, meet preparation, practice organization, fund raising, mentoring of student-athletes, managing the programs’ social media accounts, and developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes. The successful candidate must be able to establish positive relationships and effectively interact with a variety of individuals including alumni, parents, and recruits.

A bachelor’s degree, previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience, and a valid unrestricted driver’s license are required.  A master’s degree, USATF or USTFCCCA coaching education certification, and ability to coach multi-events preferred. A working knowledge of recruiting databases and websites such as Frontrush and NSCA is desirable. This position requires some evening and weekend work combined with business hours and some recruiting travel.

Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for a football graduate assistant coach for defense. Responsibilities include coaching; all aspects of recruiting; assisting with film breakdown; game and practice preparation, including video cut-ups; serving as an assistant for equipment; assisting head coach in other duties as requested; and other administrative duties as assigned. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, have previous experience coaching or playing football at the high school, collegiate or professional level, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.

This is a two-year assistantship with a start date of August 1, 2022. The successful candidate must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Education (MAE) or Business (MBA) and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. GRADUATE ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution affiliated with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and sponsor of 18 intercollegiate athletic teams, seeks applicants for two anticipated openings for Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers. The graduate assistant will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with coverage of athletic team activities, including travel and will assist with administrative duties within the athletic training room.

This is a 2-year assistantship with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2022. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, be BOC certified (or eligible), licensed (or eligible) by the State of Ohio Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Athletic Trainer Board, and have previous athletic training experience with a variety of sports. Compensation includes a salary stipend, a housing stipend (or college-provided housing), and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.
