Philip Sugden exhibits work at Defiance College

February 7, 2013

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Women’s Commission Gallery is currently hosting an exhibit of works by Philip Sugden. The show runs through March 1, and a reception with the artist will be held beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the gallery.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Sugden provides a sense of mystery in his work by combining images of personal iconography and landscapes. He leaves room for the imagination to work as he gives a glimpse of faraway regions. His work has been exhibited in more than 90 solo and 130 group shows in museums and galleries internationally. He currently serves as an assistant professor of fine arts at Bluffton University.

The Defiance College Women’s Commission Gallery is located in Dana Hall, next to Schomburg Auditorium.  Gallery hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment.  For more information, contact gallery coordinator Jason Stockman at 419-783-2451 or jstockman@defiance.edu.
