Defiance College Holiday Celebration Concerts

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College Music Programs will present a Holiday Celebration on at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at the St. John United Church of Christ on the Defiance College Campus.

The Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra will present an additional concert at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 601 Flatrock Dr., Paulding, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Defiance College Chamber Singers perform another concert at the Paulding Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m.

The Holiday Celebration features the DC Chamber Singers and the Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra. The DC Chamber Singers is a student-populated choral ensemble that performs through Northwest Ohio. The Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra is a community-based full orchestra, including strings, winds, brass, and percussion. The two ensembles present holiday favorites, carols, and masterworks. The ensembles will collaborate on Friday, leading the audience in the singing of beloved Christmas carols.

The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Jim Watson, Director of Music Programs, with piano accompaniment by Hannah Watson. In addition, the choirs are accompanied by Percussion Instructor Dr. Mark Cook and the BSSO. The orchestra is led by Director Scott McIntosh.

Admission is free, and ushers will take a free-will offering at the conclusion of each concert. Doors open a half hour ahead of each performance. Seating is general admission with first come, first served.
