August 31, 2018

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Selected works by Lita Judge, an award-winning children’s author and illustrator, will be on display in the Women’s Commission Gallery from Sept. 6 through 26.

Titled “The Art of Storytelling,” the exhibit will feature 13 illustrations handpicked by the artist herself. Judge’s love for animals and her background in geology, paleontology, and biology inspire her whimsical tales filled with characters who forge big dreams.

Judge is the author and illustrator of over 24 fiction and nonfiction picture books including: Born in the Wild (2014, Roaring Brook Press), Flight School (2014, Atheneum Books for Young Readers), Good Morning to Me! (2015, Atheneum Books for Young Readers), Hoot and Peep (2016, Dial Books), Red Sled (2011, Atheneum Books for Young Readers), and Mary’s Monster (2018, Roaring Brook Press). Flight School was recently adapted into an off-Broadway musical that is currently showing in New York City and China.

She has been awarded the International Reading Association Children’s Book Award, an ALA Notable, NCTE Notable Book, Kirkus Best Book, and the Jane Addams Honor. She works from her home in Peterborough, N.H., with her husband, two cats, and parrot.
