Defiance College, Sylvania STEM Center to offer STEM summer camps

May 3, 2019

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College, in collaboration with the Sylvania STEM Center, will host STEM summer camps on the DC campus June 24-28. Two camps will be offered during the week.

The morning camp, Build Your Own 3D Printer, is designed for students entering grades 9 through 12. Participants can experience creative problem-solving while gaining competence in the basics of building a 3D printer. And, they get to keep the printer that they build. The three-hour session will be held in the Serrick Campus Center.

An afternoon camp, Stop Motion Video, is offered to students entering grades 7 through 12. Stop motion is an animated film-making technique where objects are manipulated in small increments between individual photos so that they appear to be independently in motion when the series of frames is played back as a fast sequence. Participants will learn to create and edit their own video. This camp runs from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Serrick Campus Center.

Costs are $375 for the 3D Printer camp and $200 for the Stop Motion Video camp. Participants wishing to sign up for both sessions will receive a $25 discount. Lunch will be provided for those who sign up for both sessions.
