Defiance College Alumni Varsity D will present its annual Coach of the Year and Honorary Letterman awards during an event on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Ronald Neanen, Eaton Community Schools head football coach; Owen Pugh, Crestview School varsity softball coach and seventh grade girls’ basketball coach; and Shawn Brewer, Paulding Exempted Village School varsity men’s basketball coach, will receive Coach of the Year honors, and Terry Ranes will be recognized as Honorary Letterman for 2012.

Defiance College will hold six Professional Enrichment and Renewal Courses (PERC) during the 2012 spring semester. The PERC program is the leading way for busy educators to earn continuing education hours, master’s credit, or licensure/certificate renewal credits. The workshop series complies with the guidelines of the No Child Left Behind requirements for quality professional development and are one credit hour graduate courses.

Dr. Ronnie Dunn will be the guest speaker at Defiance College’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Thursday, Jan. 19. His presentation, “Racial Profiling: The Content of Their Character or the Color of Their Skin,” will focus on racial profiling as a phenomenon that has been around for many years.

Defiance College has announced that it will begin offering club wrestling to provide an opportunity for wrestlers to continue their sport after high school. The club will compete in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association’s North Central Conference, an association which supports more than 150 men's and women's club wrestling teams in colleges across the nation.

After a successful first year, Defiance College Personal Computer Solutions is continuing to provide computer repair assistance and is also accepting unwanted computers and equipment. During its first semester, DC PC Solutions provided computer repair assistance to more than 20 members of the community.
