Lauded by the BBC as “the greatest living exponent of the electric violin”, Tracy Silverman’s groundbreaking work with the 6-string electric violin defies musical boundaries. The world’s first concert electric violinist, Silverman has been the subject of two major orchestral commissions. An international touring artist, Tracy has performed at major concert venues from Sao Paulo to Vienna, from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl. In 1999 he was awarded Artist in Residence status by the city of Hamburg, Germany and is a frequent concert attraction in Brazil. |

Revolution has broken out on Manor Farm -- the animals have claimed their independence! Humans are banished, and the new “Animal Farm” will be a beautiful egalitarian paradise. Pigs, horses, goats, donkeys and dogs -- all animals are equal. They can build their new utopia, but can they resist the corruption that led to the human’s downfall? From the author of 1984, this chilling and provocative fable is brought to the stage with the focused clarity and spark you’ve come to expect from The National Players.

Guys with Guitars features three regionally recognizable solo musicians - Neil Jacobs, Doug Wood and Tim Farrell - joining together for a concert event reminiscent of the old Windham Hill Concert Series. Neil Jacobs transforms his 12-string acoustic guitar into his own personal orchestra and shares his fascinating stories with the audience. Doug Wood’s contemplative, melody-driven music can shift from a sweet solo fingerstyle guitar piece to a composition looping energetic world rhythms. Rounding out the trio is Darren Frate who’s innovative work on the bass is reminiscent of bass masters like Jaco Pastorius and Michael Manring. Using foot pedals and looping, he's able to create fully orchestrated melodic tunes live on stage.

Juno nominees and winners of the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine of Dala write and sing in harmony best described as angelic. The sheer joy with which they perform is infectious, turning first-time listeners into instant fans. Dala are equally entertaining between songs, telling funny and down to earth stories that make every show unique.

Funny and upbeat, with just a pinch of sass, the Good Lovelies’ textbook three-part harmonies, constant instrument swapping and witty on-stage banter have enlivened the folk music landscape since they joined forces in 2006. Lighthearted songwriting and irresistibly buoyant dispositions have made them the darlings of the summer festival circuit. Let the Rain Fall, their third full-length album, was recently nominated for the 2012 Juno for Roots/Traditional Album of the Year.
