Saturday, August 24

First-Year and Second-Year Student Move-In
Residence Halls
Leave the heavy lifting to us. Move-in crew members will be available throughout the day to help transfer all your gear into your residence hall room.

St. John's UCC 'South of the Border' Picnic
Outside McReynolds Hall
Take a break from unpacking boxes and join us for our annual Taco/Nacho Bar sponsored by St. John’s United Church of Christ.

First-Year Residence Hall Floor Meeting
See your RA for location
Connect with members of your floor and learn about the procedures of the hall. *Required for First-Year Students Residential Students ONLY

Welcome to DC Kick-Off
Schomburg Auditorium
Meet the leaders that will help you through the week and beyond and learn about all the opportunities ahead of you!

Late Nite at DC!
Serrick Campus Center
Late Nite at DC! will provide you an opportunity to meet members of the freshmen class, play fun games, and relax all night. There will be everything from games and giveaways, trivia and crafts, also featuring a caricature artist. Free food and drinks will be provided.

Sunday, August 25

Paint Party
Serrick Lawn
Start the new week with a bang as you are a human canvas. Wear a light colored shirt you don’t mind getting dirty as we provide you with powder paint, music, and fun.

Ice Cream Social at President’s Home
Meet your orientation leader in the lobby.
All first-year students are cordially invited to attend an ice cream social at the President’s home.

First-Year Seminar Meeting
Schomburg Auditorium
All first-year students will meet in Schomburg Auditorium to discuss first-year seminar followed by fall convocation.

Celebrate the beginning of the year followed by an outdoor bbq on the Alumni Lawn. *Required for First-Year Students

Bring your friends for a day of fun, food, and great prizes that will give you all the supplies needed for a successful year. New games begin every 15 minutes.

Blending a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education, and audience participation, “Sex Signals” provides a provocative, in-your-face look at issues surrounding dating, sex, and date rape on college campuses.

Part-Time Job Fair
Serrick Campus Center
This job fair is open to all students and will provide an opportunity for you to interact and learn more about local business and restaurant employment.


5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Office of Intercultural Relations Dinner and Dessert
Hubbard Banquet Room
Join the Office of Intercultural Relations (OIR) in a dinner-style informational that will provide you with all the programs and functions of the office. Presentations by organizations within OIR will provide any additional information students may need. Giveaways will happen throughout the night!

Comedian Michael Harrison
Schomburg Auditorium
Utilizing a clever, honest, and outrageous style, it is easy to see why Michael Harrison has been making audiences laugh everywhere he goes. Michael has his own televised comedy special on the Comedy Network and has been on NBC and TBS. Charming, likeable, and hysterically funny, Michael is one act you don’t want to miss.

Relax and celebrate completing your first week of school at the Student Life Dance. Free drinks, both alcoholic (limited to 3) and non-alcoholic, will be served along with a night of food, music, and dancing.
